Medical Services

The medical treatment for a person suffering from kidney failure may consist of several steps. The person may be placed on medication, a low salt diet to control blood pressure and/or a low protein diet, meant to keep waste products, some of which comes from food, from building in the blood stream.

The need to start dialysis occurs when the waste products reach a level that is no longer safe. Dialysis is then initiated to remove the waste products that have accumulated. Blood tests will be done frequently to determine the effects of dialysis and to determine the frequency and length of treatment needed.
